Hey, y’all—Happy Small Business Saturday!
Today kicks off the holiday rush (if it hasn’t started already) for small business and makers all over the place. But this year, in an attempt to quiet some of the noise, I’m making sure I ask myself these questions. Perhaps they’ll resonate with you, too:
“What do I want to be giving my energy to right now?”
“Do I have the capacity to offer these things?”
“Do I really need to add this new piece to my shop (or new thing to my routine, or this new decoration to my house, or this new ___ to my ___)?”
“Just because I see other makers (people, moms, etc.) doing it, does that mean I should, too?”
Let me be clear—I am SO grateful for being able to create and share beautiful things for a living. And being busy making things that others want to purchase and share is a beautiful problem gift to have. But I also have a strong desire to resist the hustle and bustle of the holiday shopping season and the desperate need manufactured by capitalism to buy and sell lots of—let’s be honest—just stuff.
So while I don’t have a ton of new offerings this year, I do have a few things that I really love! I’ve tried to be selective about what I’m offering, and I hope y’all will also love the things I have put energy into creating.
Below, you’ll find two of the pieces in my new holiday series. The rest of the series will be released in early December. I’ve also highlighted a few oldies but goodies from my shop that would make great gifts for your loved ones (or yourself!).
Important Shop Info & Dates:
I’ll be closing my shop for the year on Sunday, December 18th, and my last run to the post office will be on Monday, December 19th. My website and shop will still be running and able to receive orders, but anything placed after December 18th will ship in the new year.
